That's a lovely drawing! Crayon is a much undervalued medium-- you really captured the gloom of Mordor, with the single star in that clear rich blue peeking through and our small friends huddled together in the foreground! I love that it is the many-rayed star beloved in Middle-earth!

I agree about crayon drawing--I've loved it for years, and have done some wonderful portraits using it.

Thanks so very much for expressing your appreciation for it. And it had to be the eight-pointed star we imagine the Dunedain loving so!

And I am so glad you do! Crayon is a media with a good deal of potential, I've found.

I love this, Larner. You really managed to capture the early gloom with the two hobbits in the foreground and the wonderful eight-pointed star giving them hope in the sky above. Beautiful.

Well, actually our two heroes are huddled under the two boulders leaning against one another that we see in the foreground, but--well, what the hey? Am so glad people like this picture. Thank you so!

Ah! Of course. I missed that small splash of green and thought that the nightime had shaded their cloaks into the purple. My bad - your good!

Thanks so, Annette. I got this started rather late, and the only element I'm dissatisfied with was the realization that Frodo and Sam are hidden between the two leaning boulders--it's just too small to allow for the details of the two of them to be easily discerned. My main intent was to explore the reflection of Orodruin's fires on the clouds and contrast that with the brilliance of the star, and I was very pleased with how that came out.

I think it's fine. That tiny scrap of green is very effective.

One of my favourite visual moments as well, and a nicely gloomy drawing;-)

Yes--two small, now wretched creatures hiding amidst the rocky landscape of Mordor, one suddenly finding hope in the light of a star! So glad it speaks to you as well, Nath!
