LOTR Challenges 3 by judy

2011 Monthly Themes

Your mods worked hard to think up some great monthly challenges for the community this year. Since you might want to plan ahead, here are the themes and probably elements for our upcoming challenges:
2011 Challenges

January: Pot Luck (our usual choice of "leftovers" from the previous year's challenges)

February: Hearts & Flowers -- type of love (first, puppy, old, etc.) type of heart (broken, happy, etc.) and a flower

March: Lion and Lamb -- Show two sides of a character's personality; the element will be two opposite "mood words"

April: Bring on the Bards-- Write a poem, your choice of forms. Your element will be a random word from a part of speech of your choosing.

May: Merry Month of May-- write a humorous story with a story-starter for an element

June: Midsummer Night’s Dream-- the theme is "dreams", the starter/element is a quote from the play

July: Summertime Blues/FLF-- our annual Fixed-length Ficlet challenge has to have some form of “blue” in it, color or mood; your element is the number chosen for your story length.

August: Non Fiction-- No assigned theme or element, but we'd love an essay or research article from you on the subject of your choice.

September: Hit The Books-- the theme is reading, and the title of a well-known book as the element

October: Think Outside the Box. Write against your type. Like if you write fluff, try angst. Or if you write hobbits try Elves or Dwarves. Or if you write mostly dialogue then more description... etc; the elements will be three random words to be included in the story.

November: Feast is the theme, and we are looking for Recipe fics! Your assigned element will be a cooking tool or utensil that must be included in the story, along with the recipe!

December: Yule Exchange

Also: Keep an eye on this community for an announcement very soon of an extra-special new challenge, separate from our monthly challenges!
