Art: Sauron and Huan by Huinárë

Artist: Huinárë
Title:  Sauron and Huan
Rating: G
Inspiration:  ‘Now Sauron knew well, as did all in that land, the fate that was decreed for the hound of Valinor, and it came into his thought that he himself would accomplish it.  Therefore he took upon himself the form of a werewolf, and made himself the mightiest that had yet walked the world; and he came forth to win the passage of the bridge.’  -Sil ch 8.
Media: Humble ballpoint pen
Artist's Notes:  I modeled Huan on a Scottish deerhound, though he resembles a saluki too now that I think about it.  I envision werewolves as basically regular wolves (though more powerful and intelligent); thus wolf!Sauron’s horror must be assumed to be intangible, though I did endeavor to convey something of it through their respective postures.
Apologies for the not-as-sharp-as-it-could-be quality.  The original is sharper and larger, but I’ve only recently attempted to reacquaint myself with scanners after ten years of estrangement.

Art: Minas Tirith by Ellynn Ithilwen

Artist: Ellynn Ithilwen
Title: Minas Tirith
Rating: G
Inspiration #1: "Have you ever seen it, Aragorn? White tower of Ecthelion, glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver. Its banners caught high in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets?" (Movie version, FotR movie; Boromir-version)
Inspiration #2: "Then Pippin cried aloud, for the Tower of Ecthelion, standing high within the topmost wall, shone out against the sky, glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver, tall and fair and shapely, and its pinnacle glittered as if it were wrought of crystals; and white banners broke and fluttered from the battlements in the morning breeze, and high and far he heard a clear ringing as of silver trumpets." (Book version, RotK, Chapter 1; Pippin-version)
Media: photoshop manipulation
Notes: I love this picture of Minas Tirith and Boromir's words from FotR movie; since there is a similar quote in the book, too, I just couldn't resist making both versions. :) I made both of them in three sizes; the smallest is put in the post as the normal picture, while the other two are only as links, because of the width of the page. ;)

Sauron hears Luthien's song

Art: I Espy with My Great Eye by pandemonium_213

Artist Cartoonist: pandemonium_213

Title: I Espy with My Great Eye

Rating: G

Inspiration: Sauron, greatest and most terrible of the servants of Morgoth...took Minas Tirith by assault, for a dark cloud of fear fell upon those that defended it; and Orodreth was driven out, and fled to Nargothrond. Then Sauron made it into a watchtower for Morgoth, a stronghold of evil, and a menace; and the fair isle of Tol Sirion became accursed, and it was called Tol-in-Gaurhoth, the Isle of Werewolves. No living creature could pass through that vale that Sauron did not espy from the tower where he sat.

Media: Corel Paint 11 and Wacom Intuos4 Medium pad

Artist's Notes: Thanks to nelyo_russandol for the prompt and the rest of the inspiration :^). Professor Thû (a.k.a. Sauron) appears courtesy of Gothmog and Draugluin.
