A Ready Home and Office by Scribe of Mirrormere

Author: Scribe of Mirrormere
Title: A Ready Home and Office
Rating: General
Theme: Back Garden of a Dream
Elements: A cave or tunnel
Author's Notes: Includes a female Kíli. This also combines with the B2MEM 2017’s challenge that I didn’t get around to doing until now. The prompt for that was: "That's the advantage of insomnia. People who go to bed early always complain that the night is too short, but for those of us who stay up all night, it can feel as long as a lifetime. You get a lot done." (Banana Yoshimoto. Purple Path)
Summary: Kíli catches Bifur working well into the night while the other dwarves are deep asleep.

LotR Challenges 5 by Judy

May 2017 "Back Garden of a Dream" Links

The May "Back Garden of a Dream" challenge entries have been posted. This challenge asked for stories where the setting was an important component, with a setting detail given as the element to include. A few stories have come in, and please remember that late stories are always welcome! If you like a story, please consider leaving the author a note saying so.

Almost There by elwenlj. Tolkien gives us sparse details of the journey from Bruinen to Rivendell.

Even So the Reeds Hissed in Serech at Sunset by hhimring. Canonically, they walked away from what was the worst defeat of the First Age: Beleg and Mablung, March Wardens of Doriath, escape southward through the fens of Serech from the Battle of Unnumbered Tears on the plain before Angband, in which many heroes of the North fell. The two March wardens are alive but hardly unscathed.

Indis' Orchard by silver_trails. Indis waits for Findis in her orchard after Fëanor convinces most of the Noldor to leave Aman.

The Rapids of Sarn Gebir by blslarner. Pippin once thought to write a poem of how the Fellowship found the rapids of Sarn Gebir. To be part of the longer work that meets the last four challenges.

A Ready Home and Office by broadbeam. Kíli catches Bifur working well into the night while the other dwarves are deep asleep.

Authors, I will be adding any stories to the MPTT archive next week if they haven't been added already. I will let you know when I do, but if you get a chance to get your story added before then, that would be a tremendous help. I've created the May 2017 challenge series here and you can add your story to the challenge series here, or I will do so at the end of the week.

Happy reading, everyone! :)
