LotR Challenges 7 by Dreamflower

The October Challenge: The Stars at Night

The October Challenge will have the theme "the stars at night". Stories should prominently feature the stars of the night sky. Prompts for the challenge will be a particular star or constellation of Middle-earth that must be at least mentioned in the story. (It does not have to be a plot element, although it can be.)

The October challenge stories may be entered into the queue at any time between now and the reveal date, and will be revealed on Monday, October 16. Please tag your story "challenge: stars" and "month: 2017 october". Please remember to use the following header template (also found on the community profile page), and to put the name of your story and your name in the subject line.

To request your elements, please leave a comment to this post. If you have not participated before, please leave an email address so that I can send you your prompt. Or you can email the mods at manypaths@lotrgfic.com.

I hope we'll have lots of participants for our October challenge!

We have new mods!

I would like to announce that we now have two new websmiths (tech mods). Baranduin and zedille have agreed to step into that position and will be available to take care of any technical problems at the Many Paths to Tread Archive. So if you have a formatting problem or need to report a bug, they will be the ones you can contact at websmith@lotrgfic.com

"Baranduin here. I’ve been a Tolkien geek since 1967 though I did not know there was any interesting fannish things to do until the movies came out and I discovered fanfiction. Though I write very little these days, I cherish this fandom and am so happy to be moving into the web smith role. While I have big shoes to fill in stepping in after Dawn, I’m very excited to do so and encourage all of you to contact me with your site issues."

"Hi, I'm zedille, one of the tech mods. I am primarily a fic reader, across a variety of fandoms, but I also occasionally dabble as a writer. I first read Tolkien's works in middle school, and ever since then I've really enjoyed seeing what the wonderful people in this fandom come up with. I'm very excited to come onboard and help with any technical questions or issues you might have."

In addition, Cathleen and I welcome elwenlj to our team of us regular mods. She will be assisting with the lotr_community mostly, but may also help out from time to time at the forum and the archive.

I hope that you will join us in wishing our departing mods, dawn_felagund, rhapsody11 and ysilme well. They have decided to move on to other obligations and to taking care of some of that pesky thing called Real Life. And as a founding mod of the Many Paths to Tread Archive, and the architect of the site, Dawn will always be considered a co-founding mod.
