What do we do now that the winners have been announced?
Sep. 29th, 2014 07:10 pm (UTC)
Dear Kathy,

we leave that entirely up to you. You can share the news amongst your friends, go and read the other stories that have placed, enjoy your banners (I am so glad to read that you managed to upload your banners (I hit enter too soon here)) and wins! Congrats!

I've never added a banner to one of my stories before, and I don't know how or where. Could someone please give me some instructions? Can it be done on MPTT and/or LiveJournal? If so, where, exactly, do I add the banners? Thanks!
Sep. 29th, 2014 04:16 pm (UTC)
I'll let someone else answer about MPTT, but for LiveJournal: Where do you want to add the banner? Some people post it above their story. If that's what you want to do, click on the title of your entry and then click "edit." You'll see the entry in a text box where you can edit it. There's a tab above the text box, in the upper right-hand corner that says "Visual Editor" or "HTML." If "HTML" isn't selected, then click on it.

Then go to the page with the banners on MPTT (linked in the entry) and find the banner for a category that you won in. There's a code under each picture. Select the code, copy it, and paste it into your LJ entry at the top (or wherever you want it to go). Then click on "Preview entry" to check if it worked. If it looks the way you want it to, click on "Save entry" and you should be good to go.

I hope that made sense! Let me know if it's not clear and I'll try again, or maybe someone else will be able to explain it better.

Yaayy!! It worked! Thanks for your help, Lignota. My two winning entries in LiveJournal have their own banners now.
Sep. 29th, 2014 05:27 pm (UTC)
Great! Glad I could help.
Sep. 29th, 2014 07:09 pm (UTC)
Thank you Zdenka, for answering this :)
Sep. 29th, 2014 07:20 pm (UTC)
Quite welcome! Though I don't know if she still needs help with uploading to MPTT? I've often needed tech help there, so I didn't think I should try to offer it. :)
Sep. 29th, 2014 07:58 pm (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't think of that long work day=brain=mush.

Kathy, if you need help adding the banners to the story info, do let me know. I could add them for you or explain how to do it in easy steps.
Sep. 29th, 2014 09:49 pm (UTC)
Thanks, I was able to add those banners to "Where's Frodo?" and "Sunstroke!" here on LiveJournal. I don't know how to add them to those 2 stories on Many Paths to Tread, though. Would you be able to do that for me, by any chance, or else teach me how?

To add a banner to MPTT:

1. First copy just the URL for the banner that you want. This should start with http:// and end with .jpg.

2. Next go to Manage Stories on your account page. Click to edit the story you'd like to add the banner to.

3. Put the cursor where you want the image to go. Next, click on the Insert/Edit image button. (It is in the second row of buttons, in about the middle. It has a little tree image on it.)

4. Paste the URL of the banner into the first field (URL). It should show up in the Preview screen. Click Insert and then Add Story to save your changes.

If you'd like one of us mods to add it for you, just let us know where you'd like it added (in the Story Notes, your bio, etc.).

I guess above the story titles would be good places for the banners. Would you add them to those 2 stories for men in MPTT, please? Thanks!

I've added your banners to the story notes on "Where's Frodo?" and "Sunstroke!" so they will show up on the table of contents and at the top of the story.

Congrats! :)

I know that I am terribly late in commenting, but I thank one and all for the votes, particularly as this year I was so lax in participation! Thanks again, one and all.
