4th T and F awards banner

The 2015 Tree and Flower Awards will begin later on today. Since previous winners cannot compete (except for stories that competed in the WIP category, but are now complete), here are links to stories which won in previous years. Stories that competed, but did not place are still eligible. Please check these lists to be certain that your nomination is eligible.

The only other eligibility requirements are that the story must be posted at the Many Paths to Tread Archive prior to July 26 of this year.

Winners from 2012
Winners from 2013
Winners from 2014

In addition, please be sure to check other nominations by other people, to make sure that someone else has not nominated the story already.

Is it that time again already? Very exciting!

Stories that competed, but did not place are still eligible.

Does that mean the Honorable Mention stories are eligible? Or do they also count as winners? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

HM is considered as placing. Any story in the winner's lists has placed.

Not stupid at all; it's important to know.

Okay, that makes sense. I was just confused because in practice, at least, it looked like every nominated story did get at least an honorable mention. But I only started following the awards recently, so maybe that's not always true?

It is only that way sometimes: if there are, say 7 or 8 stories nominated in a category, and there are no ties, then there will be only 4 that place: 1,2,3, HM. But if there are only 4 in a category with no ties, then all will win.

But say there are 5 stories and a tie, for HM all will win in that category. Or with more stories, you might have ties for 1st or 2nd or 3rd, and no ties for HM.

A lot of it depends on participation: the fewer voters we have, the more the likelihood of ties; the more voters the less the likelihood.

Okay. Thanks for explaining.

How do we nominate for this? Sorry if I'm being stupid but I am very new to both sites.

Re: Nominating
Nominations are made by commenting to special LJ posts. I'm in the process of working on those. I hope to get them all up and running before bedtime tonight!

There is a post for each category, with top-level threads for each sub-category. To nominate, you will go to the correct thread, and comment with a link, the title of the story, and the author.

If two people nominate the same story, the time-stamp decides who gets credit for the nomination.

Just keep your eyes open for the announcement posts.

Oops! Too bad I was slow with getting some of my recent stories uploaded to MPTT, because now they can't compete. Ah, well, they'll be there by next year! ;-)

Looking forward to the awards, it's always a good time for me to get caught up on my reading.

Yeah, I had some of mine I didn't get to post too! But now it's time to nominate! YAY!

I've just dug out the following link, after a discussion with Rhapsody:

I think it is the master list of all previous winners that Rhapsody mentioned to us (rather than the separate lists of winners for individual years linked above).

Yes, it was incomplete at the time of the announcement, but the winners from '14 were added a few days ago. Thnk you. I should probably make an announcement now that it is complete.
