This post is for you to recommend stories for others to review for this year's Anniversary Review Challenge. If you have a favorite story that you have already read and commented on, but would like to see that others have a chance to do so, please comment at this post.

All recommended stories must be posted at the Many Paths to Tread Archive.

For each story you recommend, use this header:

Reason for recommendation:

You may recommend as many stories as you want to, and you may put multiple recs in one comment so long as you use a separate header for each, (but do keep in mind LJ's character limit). Or you may use a separate comment for each rec if you wish.

Also, you may comment on other people's recs here if you wish.

Title: The Shadow of War
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=3248
Author: Rhymer
Reason for recommendation: If you enjoy long plotty post-Quest adventures featuring most of the main LotR characters, this one fills the bill nicely. In spite of a beautifully twisted plot with a number of turns, it is also character driven, and beautifully written. It is also a neat addition to those stories which honor Tolkien's device of containing bits of "history" within it.

Title: The Master and the King
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=3422&chapter=1
Author: Rhymer
Reason for recommendation: I adore this story. Of course, I might be biased, as it was written for me, but truly it's delightful. It's an epistolary story, and recounts the many letters exchanged over the years between Merry Brandybuck and Éomer, King of Rohan.

Title:Voices at the Door
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=2708
Author: Rhymer
Reason for recommendation: Do you like first meetings? Do you like stories of the friendship between Aragorn and Bilbo? If so, then you will like this one! It's sweet, and funny and touching, and it was the first one I read by this talented author.

I would like to recommend all Huinare's stories about Saruman and his crebain. As you might expect, considering Saruman's trajectory, this starts off relatively light-hearted and becomes darker, but I really like Huinare's original crebain characters Angandil and Moril right through.

Title: Saruman's Housewarming Party
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=2001
Author: Huinare
Reason for recommendation: This is the early, light-hearted one and is really funny. Saruman is given a craban for a house-warming present.

Title: Angandil's Strange Evening
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=3226
Author: Huinare
Reason for recommendation: Angandil is a fully developed craban character here. The background is a lot darker, but there are still moments of humour. There is something heart-wrenching about the last sentence.

Title: The Sport of Your Own Crows
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=2060&textsize=0&chapter=6
Author: Huinare
Reason for recommendation: Excellent gap filler from an alternative POV. Features Moril.

Yes, I second the rec!

Title:A Song in the Darkness
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=3590
Author: Zdenka
Reason for recommendation: the author's love and real knowledge and experience of music informs her description of Maglor's song in a way that clearly comes across. Also, great emotional intensity.

Thank you very much for the rec!

Title: Víressë
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=3525
Author: Dawn Felagund
Reason for recommendation: A subtle analysis of emotional confusion. Perhaps not entirely comfortable to read, but really well observed.

Title: Five Times That Nerdanel Said 'Yes'
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=2273
Author: Oshun
Reason for recommendation: Gorgeous description and engrossing description of emotional development and shifts. Also, a WIP on which Oshun is still working and it would be good if she received encouragement to finish it.

Title: Another Future
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=2433
Author: Keiliss
Reason for recommendation: a thoughtful take on the society of Gondolin and a romance element which carries conviction

Title: Neekerbreekers
URL: http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=3624
Author: Dreamflower
Reason for recommendation: An unexpectedly moving story featuring midges.
