It was dark in the dungeons of the Elvenking, yesss, and there were plenty of ratses and spiderses to eat, precious, but the silence in there gave us no peace. It was our birthday present, and the thief Baggins stole it from us. He cheated at riddles, he did, and stole the Precious. Gollum! We hates it forever! He lives in the Shire, somewhere in the hills, and we'll find him, precious, and wring his neck!
Cruel Man! He hunted us down, chased us to the marshes in the Black Land where the Dark Lord lives in the tall tower. They tortured us, precious. Stretched us on a rack, they did, and whipped us, then set us free. We told him what he wanted to know. Baggins. Shire. The Dark Lord wants the Precious, but we had to tell him where it was to make them stop hurting us.
Then he let us go. It was windy that day, so we didn't hear the Man come sneaking up on us. We were in the marshes, hunting for fish, and found a big silvery one lying on a tussock. It looked tasssty, precious, and we were hungry. Gollum! We went to get it, but the Man jumped out and seized us! Gollum! Gollum! We bit him, we did, and he carried us all the way to the Elveses stronghold in a sack. We were in it for months. Gollum! Then he gave us to the Elveses and they put us in the dungeons. We'll get him for that, precious. Put him in a sack and throw him in a dungeon!
We had to get out. Something in the Elveses's realm stops the voice of the Precious. Keeps it out. Gollum! Gollum! We wants it. We needs it. The Precious calls to us. Speaks to us. We loves it. Gollum! We had to get out of there and get it back before the Dark Lord did. We had a plan.
We stopped eating the food they brought us, and lay still for hours at a time. Sometimes we would scream and rave, climb up the bars and bash our head off them, then drop to the floor and rock back and forth. It worked. They said they were driving us mad by keeping us confined, and brought us outside to feel the wind on our face and see the stars. They love the stars.
They let us climb the trees, precious. Up in the high branches, we met a crow who knows the Orcses who live in the Misty Mountains. He told us he could get them to free us. Gollum! We told him we would be ready for them. A day or so later, they came while we were eating baby birds from a nest near the top of a tree with silvery bark. They killed them, precious. The Elveses lay dead or dying on the ground, and we went with the Orcses. They took some of the Elveses along with them as prisoners. Gollum! Elf flesh is tender, yesss, and the Orcses eat them sometimes.
Now we are free. We can hear the song of the Precious. We will take it back from the Baggins and it will be ours again.
